This is the project page for the new Palm Ave Community Park. This future 12-acre park is envisioned to serve the needs of the entire Fremont community. Based on the community input from the 2022 Parks and Recreation Master Plan and City-adopted design guidelines, it is anticipated that Palm Ave Community Park will generally include amenities such as sports fields, sport-courts, passive lawn play areas, playgrounds, picnic areas, connecting sidewalks and landscape areas.
Fremont, “Community Parks” are larger parks that extend beyond the neighborhood level to serve citywide recreational needs by providing a combination of active sports and open spaces at parks similar in size to Palm Ave Community Park such as Warm Springs, Irvington, Sylvester Harvey, Nordvik, Marshall and Los Cerritos Community Parks. Community parks also include additional amenities like restrooms and parking lots.
The Palm Ave site faces some design considerations that may not apply to other Community Parks. It is through the design, environmental, and mitigation processes that concerns such as traffic, parking, park access, and the analysis of community-desired appropriate amenities are reviewed before being recommended to City Council for final Master Plan approval.
Currently, all the feedback from emails and our three community outreach events, including the community meeting and the 1600+ responses to the community survey has been summarized. This information will be presented at the September 3rd Recreation Commission meeting.
Here is a list of upcoming meetings on this project:
September 3rd Recreation Commission Meeting 7:00 p.m. at City Council Chambers: Staff to present an update on Palm Ave Park community input. Please check the agenda center (link below) 72 hours prior to confirm date, time and location.

Thank you for your message and for sharing your concern about the geese at Central Park.
Our maintenance team conducts regular cleanups to manage goose droppings and maintain the park as effectively as possible. However, geese are a protected species, and full removal is not feasible. We have implemented mitigation measures such as fencing, visual deterrents, and egg addling to help control future goose populations.
We recognize this is a regional issue affecting many parks and open spaces, and we are actively exploring additional solutions.

Thank you for your question. A direct connection to Mission Creek Trail is still undertermined. Connecting to this trail via Palm Ave Community Park will require an agreement with SFPUC Hetch Hetcy. This will be considered at a later date to ensure alignment with the Active Transporation and the Trail Strategy Plan.
Thank you for your contribution!
